Elk

The Elk up here are like tame cows.      I have been within fifteen to twenty feet of many of them.     Today we saw a coyote as we were driving to the dump station.      The couple at the dump station said they had seen a bear.    It looks like it will be a great summer.

Snow

Ever year we are in snow at the first of the season, this year is no difference. The temperature has not been below 20. The dogs have been funny, this AM I took them out & Tank wanted back in as soon as possible, that is why in the picture you only see Cash. Ever-thing is getting worked out, a few bumps in the road , but that is not new. We have the internet at our site today, maybe tomorrow also, if so I should make a lot more posts.

Summer of 2012

We will try to post at least once a week more if we can. We do have internet. Our phones work sometimes. It has been around 32 each morning, get to 60 in the day time maybe. We are doing start-up, getting ever-thing ready for our first campers and our workers. There are about ten of us here now, there will be more coming each day. There is plenty of work to go-around. Water must be turned on and checked for water leaks, the elec must be turned on and checked. We have found some things that need to be fixed and we will find some more. Of course all is not work we went into Hebert Saturday nite for a Easter Program and Dinner, six of us went. Good program and good food.

Yes we got snowed on

This is our campsite for the summer.

Our Truck For The Summer

This is how we moved trash dumpsters. This is a 1993 Toyota.

This is the Poudre River

There is a lot of rafting which goes on this river during the spring. Three people lost their lives in 2011, from rafts that overturned.

One Wild River

Part of this river is rated 6 and a lot of it is a 5. This is during the spring snow melt. It will drop 5 to 6 feet later during the year.

Wilma gets a toy

Fort Collins is a city about the size of San Angelo, unlike San Angelo people ride bicycles everywhere.

Summer of 2011

We were able to spend the summer of 2011 in Mountain Park CO just West of Fort Collins, it is on the Poudre River (it is the only river in CO which is a Wild River). We were working in the Canyon area, for Thousand Trails, we were Unit Managers.

The Good The Bad & The Ugly

This & the next three posts I call the Good, The Bad, & the Ugly. GOD is GOOD.
Look at the next post to see the Bad & then go on to the Ugly.
We finished up at Amazon.com & it was something. I may do it again I am not sure. They said we shipped more this year than ever before. They plan to bring in twice as many Workampers next year, than this time, they had 500 this time. Amazon said they learned a lot this time & it will be better next time.
The weather was very cold in KY, colder than normal for the fall of the year. We had a good campground which Amazon paid for. I would like to see that part of KY when the weather is better. So do we do it again, we will see. We may sell Christmas Trees next year, we will see. We could sell trees in South Texas or FL that would be nice.

The Bad

We had stopped for fuel in Jackson Mississippi, then Wilma came around the side of the trailer after walking Tank & said we only have one wheel on this side. I told her that was not a good joke. She said I am not joking. We had lost not only a tire, but the wheel also. We do not know how long it had been gone, as you can see the studs are gone also, no putting the spare on. This was on 12-24-10, everything was closing. We saw a W-M close by and drove there very slowly. I taking to the men in the tire & wheel area, they said they could do nothing. I went in to see the Manager & he said we could stay on their lot till Monday, which would be 12-27-10. We spent Christmas at Wal-Mart & they were closed.
Monday we were able to move to a Tire & Wheel Shop & have it fixed took from 9:00 AM till 4:30 PM, as they had to get some more parts. This is just part of life.

Two Small Toes

I now have two small toes, as you can see my 4th toe is the same size as my small toe. The good thank is it does not take as long to cut my toenails, as it did. I can only count to 19 & 3/4. If I have a pedicure I should get a discount. That is an ugly foot.

Ugly

You can see the wound is closing up. As of now it is closed up, of course it is now 1-10-11. I have on shoes. Wore shoes for the first time to church Sunday, that is I wore shoes for the first time after having my toe taken off. Life is good we are looking forward to getting some things done around our house in Texas & doing some work on the trailer. Will take the truck in Tuesday to have it serviced.

COLD

It is winter and it is cold. This area is later covered in snow.

State Park

This is where you unload your horses to ride in the State Park. No one is ridding today.

Hay

As you can see (if you look close) that the bales of hay in this field are covered with snow.

Our Drive

This picture was taken from our slide. The spot you are looking at with no snow or ice is where we park the truck. It has been cold not getting out of the teens for 24 hours. We have had a few days it did not get out of the 20's. Today we have a heat wave it has reached 32. We received 2-5 inches of snow, then some sleet. Our water froze at one time, but after putting a heater in the bay with the pump all is well. We are in good shape, in the trailer it is 70.

Fall in Kentucky

There are two pictures in this group. I talked to the owner of the Horse Stables, where he raises horses & sell them, he also has an RV Park , (Green River Stables RV Park). He told me that this morning was typical of a Kentucky Fall morning. It is in the 40's today with an overcast sky. We do not expect to see any sun. He said he has seen 90 days in a row just like this one. The humidity is very high. A man could walk through the woods on the leaves & not make a sound, so could the deer & other forest animals.
We saw a buck Monday as we were nearing our campground, it was a four pointer and larger then the Texas White Tail, it was not a Mule Deer. We have mostly seen squirrels, that was our first deer. Tank loves to walk in the woods with the leaves on the ground he smells of everything.
While this is a nice day I would not like to have a month of not seeing the sun.

We were not able to get all the boats in one picture.

Where is Don

Click on the picture. I know where Don's Golf Cart is, but where is Don the Boys could use him.

Tree & House

The countryside here is very pretty. We pass by this every day on our way to work. Sorry for the wires, (but that is life).

Amazon

This is one BIG building. There are two floors & everything is done with computers.

Wilma's Pot's Box

One of our fellow CH in Ruedi had a pot like this only it made 12 cups. It will grind the beans then make the coffee. We have been looking for one for some time; then we went into Big Lots & found this for only $45.00, this one makes 10 cups. She has not tried it out yet.

Wilma's new Pot

Flags

If you look close you will see the Texas flag on our trailer. We are parked close to each other in this park, but everyone is very friendly; most of the people work for Amazon. We leave here at 6:00 Eastern Time & have to be at work no later than 6:30. My Daddy always told me to leave with plenty of time to change a flat, or to get a jump if my car would not start. We are about 10 minutes from work. We go to bed by 8:00 o,clock.
